Meet our Coaches

Donnie Cowart
Donnie, a native of Rustburg, VA, is a 2009 graduate of VMI, where he holds the school record in the indoor mile and the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Competing in both cross-country and track, Cowart capped his career at VMI with his 8:44.66 and Division I All-American finish in the steeplechase at the 2009 NCAA Championships.  Since graduation, Donnie has made eight USATF Outdoor Championship Finals, the 2012 & 2016 Olympic Trials Finals where he finished 4th & 8th respectively. In 2017 Donnie broke the 4-minute mile barrier running 3:58.43 for a full mile on the track.

Robyn Land McElwee
 Robyn has been running competitively for over 25 years.  She was a 4-time Western Regional champion and 2-time NC State champion in Cross Country and the 2-mile.  She is a graduate of Virginia Tech where she specialized in the 5000 and 10,000-meter events.  Robyn co-authored My Trainer Fitness for Kids, and has coached many high school runners to Division 1 scholarships.  She is a USATF certified coach, and the founder of Crazy Running.

Teresa Inman @ Whitaker Elementary
 Teresa lives in Winston-Salem with her husband, Lucas, and their three boys. She grew up in NC and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and a Masters in Accounting. She now works part time as a self-employed CPA and volunteers her time through charitable organizations, such as the Junior League of Winston-Salem and the Whitaker Elementary School PTA. She runs a wide range of distances and enjoys the spectrum of experiences the sport of running offers: from the explosive power required in sprints, to the steady strength of the 5k, to the endurance and fatigue of a marathon.
