Winter Conditioning

Crazy Running – Winter Conditioning, one of our most popular training sessions, include weeks of endurance, strength and speed development for youth ages 3 – 14. Sixty-minute workouts include running, stretching, strength training, running form work, plyometrics, speed development and more! The Crazy Running program motivates, encourages, and challenges young athletes to push themselves, improve their fitness and develop their athletic ability. We find that athletes do benefit from participating one day per week, but find that the athletes that participate more than one day per week grow more athletically. Crazy Running Winter Conditioning will help the young athlete: be more prepared for spring sports, increase speed and endurance, improve core strength, increase overall fitness in the off-season, become a stronger athlete! Play Crazy, Run Hard!

In the elite group, our emphasis is on giving young people the tools they need to be successful endurance athletes. Athletes will learn running form and dynamic mobility drills, as well as strength and dynamic flexibility work.  No matter what sport your kids are getting ready for, we teach the skills to take your child’s athleticism to the next level and guide young athletes on how to effectively incorporate them into their routines. Our goal is to build strong, fast, coordinated, healthy and knowledgeable athletes.

Our curriculum, crafted by Coach Donnie Cowart (a Division 1 All-American track athlete, a 10-time USA Championship steeplechase qualifier, a sub-4:00 miler and a current sub-2:18 marathoner) will push these athletes to the next level of performance and competitiveness.

This group of athletes are all looking to improve, share a love for running and working hard at practice. We highly recommend these athletes be ready for this group so no one gets discouraged and come ready to Play Crazy, Run Hard!

Summer

We know families usually have a full summer schedule planned. In an effort to keep kids active over the summer and get them away from computer screens we are offering flexible programming. We will host Crazy Running sessions multiple days each week and with the purchase of a punch card you can attend the number of practices that work for your summer schedule. If you plan on being in Greensboro all summer we would love for you to join us for every single summer practice.

Summer Speedsters

Our Summer Speedsters program will have a focus on getting kids prepared for a fast Beat The Heat Mile. There will be a conditioning component and a speed development component. Each practice will follow a similar structure with a warmup run, form running drills, a workout, a cool down run, and stretches. Our workouts include lots of running, plyometrics, sprints, agility drills, and hills.  As with all of our Crazy Running programs we disguise our workouts with fun games and team challenges. Be sure to bring a water bottle, wear comfortable athletic shoes, and athletic gear.

About Us

Jay & Briana Welch
Crazy Running Coaches & Owners
of Crazy Running Greensboro

Coach Jay is a Greensboro native and a distance running enthusiast. When he was introduced to the world of track & field during his early teens he was instantly hooked. He has competed in events ranging from the 800m and 1600m races to the high jump to his current obsession, ultramarathons!

Coach Bri has had a deep love for running from a young age. Her current obsession? Half marathons. As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, she knows first hand the life changing effects that a regular running regimen can have not only on your physical health but your mental health as well.

When the Welches were introduced to Donnie Cowart and the Crazy Running organization in 2021, they knew they had to sign their daughter, Sofia up for the fall program at her school. After watching her quickly progress and seeing her response as she placed first in her age group in her first official 5K they were sold. Sofia has continued to run every season and has excelled in her sport, gained confidence, and has had the opportunity to learn and practice her leadership skills as well!

Seeing his daughter’s progression inspired Jay to begin coaching several programs in the Winston-Salem area as a way to give back and support this organization that has meant so much to his family.

After experiencing firsthand the joy and satisfaction of helping crazy runners grow their skills, confidence, and passion for the sport this family loves, the Welches decided it was time to bring Crazy Running to their hometown!

We are thrilled to serve the Guilford County area through our various school and park programs and we can’t wait to run with you!
